The House of Representatives has turned rowdy over the call for the Kaduna State government to release Ibrahim El-zakzaky.
Linda Ikpeazu Nigerian politician moved an amendment to a motion by Mohammed Bello (APC, Kano). Ikpeazu’s motion followed a negatived motion for the federal government to obey court order on the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria.
The lawmakers however adopted a motion to invite security and service chiefs to shed more light on the sustained violent protests by Shi’ites members in Abuja.
The debate on the need to release the Muslim cleric who has been in DSS custody since 2015 started after a lawmaker moved a motion in that regard.
In his prayer, Hon. Haman Hembe asked the federal government to obey various court orders to release El-Zakzaky.
Furthermore, the motion was taken twice without any clear majority, the Speaker, Femi Gbajabimila called for division of the house to allow headcount, however, the house became rowdy.
The house, therefore, moved into a closed-door session to take.
